Change wp-login page

hello everyone, I am trying to replace the standard wp-login page to a custom one in sake of security

I managed to replace wp-login.php to admin.php, this file is the exact replica of wp-login, in which, any instance of “wp-login.php” string have been replaced with “admin.php”

but when, i.e. I try to log out from admin bar, I get a 404 error message.
is there some other file I should work on?
and what’s about any future WP update?

Have you considered using a plugin? This can be done w/o changing files
