Cron error: mysqld.pid: unexpected operator

From time to time I get an email from cron from the trellis server:

/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:
logrotate_script: 3: [: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid: unexpected operator

Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS
Trellis doesn’t seem to set a logrotate for mysqld up, so this is a bug in the mysqld Ubuntu package?
