I would integrate Google Analytics using the Google Tag Manager, Sage theme or Soil plugin. The tracking aspect is covered by these options.
But I also want a Dashboard widget for a graph and some basic stats with daily/weekly/monthly/yearly dropdown (what the ExactMetrics plugin offered before it sadly became too limited and ad-heavy).
That plugin also added an analytics column to any post that can be clicked to get a graph and stats just for that post, which is very handy.
