My latest project with Roots + WooCommerce, custom everything. It’s the official site for Welfy Q. Deederhoth, a novel about youth homelessness.

This is what happens when you mix Roots, WooCoomerce, and Fly Fishing : http://frostyfly.com
While we are still developing features for the above site, I am currently working on a Roots based documentation theme that I will release here as soon as it’s ready
Just launched this one: http://www.fishcherokee.com/
Designs and client communication by Element Advertising, I just developed the site.
Yay!
Killer site! I gotta try the whole WooCommerce integration thing sometime. It’s working well for you? Where are you hosting? It’s quick!
Thanks!
I did not have too much trouble integrating WooCommerce. The guide on the Roots blog was all I needed to get started. I did end up removing nice-search due to some issues with WooCommerce, though.
It’s funny you should mention the speed as I was just glancing through the Site Speed reports on Google Analytics and was kind of shocked by an 9s load of the home page Hopefully it’s just that one visitor from Russia
We’re hosting the site on DigitalOcean and using W3 Total Cache as well as some server side "enhancements"
DO is pretty awesome. I couldn’t find any current promo codes but I can send you a referral link if you’re interested.
Looks great! Cool to see what folks are doing with Roots.
Takes about 9s for me too, in Atlanta. Then again, looks like it’s something along the lines of 4mb being transferred on the homepage.
Thanks for the kind words
I find that when W3TC is rebuilding its cache the first page load is very slow. I really hope that is all that it was, but I’ll have a look around to see if I can bring that down at all. All my tests showed a max around 3s (with the cache built)
And yes, it is an embarrassingly large size. The huge slider is to blame here and it is quite difficult to talk clients out of sliders
Use lazy loading for the carousel images.
Holy AJAX batman! You have any write-ups or blog posts on how you integrated it so nicely?
It was very fast for me, so maybe I didn’t catch it when it was rebuilding. I know there’s more to caching when you have a cart you have to constantly update…
Either way, I like the site! Good luck fixing those issues.
You’ll want to check out https://facetwp.com which takes care of all of that
Here’s the code if you’d like to see how I implemented it.
Outstanding! How have I not used that before? I usually use some custom PHP and http://mixitup.io for my sorting, but I’ve got a project coming up that I will FOR SURE use Facet on - too much stuff for mixitup to handle.
Thanks ya’ll. There’s just sooo much you can do with WordPress - but we knew that already
Just launched http://e3p.co.uk/
It’s a one page site with multiple sections. It uses Roots and is the first site where I’ve been using Grunt and Git.
Roots rocks. This starter theme and the community got me going with WordPress. My sites:
http://www.theatereleven.com
http://www.sandiboudreau.com
http://www.shopsupercars.com
http://www.joyboudreau.com
I’ve done a bunch of Roots-based projects, but this is the first one where I haven’t just stripped all the Bootstrap stuff out:
Password: ‘congratsyouguys!’ (no quotes). Maybe posting this to the internet defeats the purpose of the password, but I can’t really resist posting.
Still tweaking it/adding elements/etc. but we’re both pretty thrilled with how it came out.
(Also this is my first time really utilizing all the features in Bedrock, and although it took forever to get it set up with my computer and host, it’s really incredible once you get it going.)
