Roots example project error on vagrant up

Hi, I’m following instructions on github for roots-example-project.com. Using linux. On vagrant up i get the following:

Installing plugin vagrant-bindfs
There was an error loading a Vagrantfile. The file being loaded
and the error message are shown below. This is usually caused by
a syntax error.

Path: /home/dan/sites/demo/trellis/Vagrantfile
Line number: 0
Message: NoMethodError: undefined method `group_by’ for nil:NilClass

I didnt post it as an issue on github because not sure if that applies. Thank you for the help!
