Sage 9 alpha 4 - Slow building after npm start

I just installed Sage 9 alpha 4 and it takes 8-9 seconds for npm start to reload my browser. Is there any way of speeding this up? Does Sage really need to compile all js assets when only a Sass file changed?

I just read that webpack 2 is slower as webpack 1. But when i downgrade webpack to 1 i’ll get a error

What is your system setup? It takes ages for me too, but my machine is hella old so I put it down to that.

Edit

Hella old isn’t exactly very useful I now realise;

  • Mid 2009 MacBook Pro
  • 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 8 GB 1067MHz DDR3 memory
  • OSX 10.11.6 running on SATA SSD

It takes about 10-15s for WebPack to update components after saving changes, with various other applications running too (Atom, Safari, iTunes, etc etc)
