Sage10 debugging methods, best practices

As the previous topic on the problem is dead (No errors display in Sage 10), I repeat the question in a slightly different form.

Do you have any best practices for debugging sage v10 bugs?
(The current form logs errors only to the log file, displaying a white screen)

I wonder what var dump and error logging methods do you use, or maybe someone uses xdebug?

I’m struggling a bit with this, too. Purchased @nathanielks’s wonderful tutorial (https://roots.io/screencasts/debugging-php-with-xdebug), and working with with Visual Studio Code (v1.59.1), php 7.4.22 and xDebug v3.0.4. Check the xDebug upgrade guide.
