Just received a notice that they are talking about implementing a long standing ticket in Wordpress 4.4.

This implements a filter on the template hierarchy array, which would allow for implementation of wrapper functionality that would traverse the hierarchy.

Would love to hear more about how this will affect new and older versions of Sage / Roots.

This plugin provides the functionality described, but no longer works as the WordPress core previously implemented the filter described in the above ticket before removing it.
