User Permissions Plugin or Best Practices

Hi All,
I apologize if this isn’t the best place to ask but I figure if you’re using Roots you likely have a good grasp of the best plugins or methods for more advanced WP tasks.

I’m curious if anyone recommends a particular plugin or method for controlling user permissions to customize what non-administrators can do on the backend.

I appreciate any info or leads. Thanks!

I’ve got http://wordpress.org/plugins/members/ on my list to check out, it seems solid

@benword and @Robert, Used http://wordpress.org/plugins/members/ plugin recently with success. Was pretty solid for what I needed.

Thanks @ben and @talves, I appreciate it. Will give it a go.

Maybe I gave up too quickly but I couldn’t see any easy way to manage access to specific posts or custom post types through the members plugin.

So I’m using this instead: https://wordpress.org/plugins/capability-manager-enhanced/
