Hey everyone, I’m **Davide** , a PHP dev from Italy and I run an agency called **Encodia**.

Posting this with the team’s OK, thanks for letting me share.

I just published a long article on **Roots** in Italian. Why _Italian_? Because I went looking for decent material on Bedrock, Sage, Trellis or Radicle in my own language and found almost nothing. Felt like a gap worth filling, there are plenty of solid devs over here who’d benefit from the ecosystem if it stopped sounding like an English only club.

The piece is less “how to” and more “is this worth the effort for your business”. I walk through Bedrock, Sage, Trellis, Acorn, then land on Radicle as the entry point I’d actually pick today.

The section I think might spark the most useful chat here, though, is the one on **WP Packages**. The **WPackagist** acquisition by WP Engine back in March really threw me off. I get the convenience of a single, reliable mirror, but having that piece of the supply chain owned by one corporation changes the calculus a bit. WP Packages from Roots feels like the cleaner answer (faster resolves, updates every 5 minutes, real lockfiles for plugins without tags), and the migration is basically a namespace swap. I’d love to hear how others here are thinking about it.

Are you migrating? Sticking with WPackagist? Running both? Article (Italian, but a translator will get you 95% of the way there): [https://davideprevosto.it/wordpress/roots-io-2026-wordpress-come-si-deve/](https://davideprevosto.it/wordpress/roots-io-2026-wordpress-come-si-deve/ "https://davideprevosto.it/wordpress/roots-io-2026-wordpress-come-si-deve/")

```php
echo “Per chi mi legge in italiano: se lavori con Bedrock, Sage, Trellis o Radicle dall’Italia, scrivimi due righe nei commenti. Sto cercando di capire quanti siamo, cosa vi convince, cosa no, e cosa vi farebbe partire un progetto Roots domani mattina invece di rimanere sul solito setup. Pareri, esperienze, lamentele, tutto utile.”;
```

Hey,
Always good to see Roots content in other languages.

Moving to WP Packages feels like a natural step, fewer surprises, better alignment with the whole stack.

Also noticed Matt Mullenweg sharing it on LinkedIn. It deserves that attention on its own merits honestly, but can’t ignore the fun factor when it subtly pokes WP Engine :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
