Bud not compiling CSS

Hello,

I’m having the same issue as described here: Bud.js not inserting JS/CSS with yarn dev | Sage 10 | Local by Flywheel - #3 by sariyanta - when running “yarn dev”, CSS just isn’t compiled anymore JS works fine. When running “yarn build”, it works.

This post referenced above is from Jan 2023 and suggested workarounds are upgrading/downgrading versions, however the versions mentioned there are long outdated. I tried with current recent different versions (6.17 / 6.20 / 6.23), but to no avail.

I cannot also figure out what this breakage might be linked to. I was working on a project, it was working fine. Did a yarn build, did a commit/push to check some stuff on a staging server. Ran yarn dev again like 10-15 minutes later with nothing changed on my local machine or in the dev env, doesn’t work anymore. Also, other projects using the similar setup including ones that I haven’t touched/changed in months, no longer work so my best guess is that is some related global NPM package or something.

Any pointers to what this might be related to? Dev env is a M3 Mac running MacOS Sonoma 14.5.

A thing to note - if I actually break something in my CSS (resources/styles/app.scss), then I get an error:
