jQuery via CDN - why not?

Hello.

I want to use CDN for loading jQuery for obvious reasons.
I noticed that even in Soil from 3.8. onwards jQuery CDN was removed.
I do not use Soil on production sites, but was wondering, why jQuery CDN was removed?
Are there any drawbacks besides google’s CDN perhaps not loading it in, say, China ?
