Deployed our network of multisites using bedorcock last week. UFSM (https://www.ufsm.br ) a University located in South of Brazil city called Santa Maria. It’s a big WordPress multisite installation with more than 450 subsites and more than 80k published posts. It receives around 20k ~ 25k visits per day.

We use a lot of custom created plugins, some of them:

  • Login via LDAP,
  • Integrations with academic database via webservices to pull data from courses, departments and much more.
  • Custom Widgets (we heavily use Elementor for building pages with custom widgets)
  • We integrated Symphony with WordPress, so we can use custom Routes

We have been working for three years now on this network and it’s very robust by now. We’re always improving and bedrock came to help us a lot. Staging, development and production became a lot easier to maintain. My sincere thanks for everyone who worked on bedrock.

Impressive work @slowrush !! Congrats!!

I’m going to start a project with the very same stack as you have for Oneflow. Any caveats I should be aware of using Multisite and MultilingualPress with Bedrock?

Thanks, @carlosfaria

If you don’t need a shared media library it should be mostly smooth!

There were a few painful things though, like Network Media library has been dropped by the devs @ humanmade which is a shame as it’s a pretty useful plugin. It mostly works if you apply a few of the open PRs that good folks have contributed (our fork has ACF support + Gutenberg/REST API fixes applied). I think the developers of MultilingualPress have their own multisite shared media plugin which I’d definitely say is worth investigating early on! V. difficult to modify posts referencing global image id’s after the fact + they both have slightly different ways of supporting ACF Blocks.

Valet for local dev was a bit tricky to get setup initially but this guide from @ben + the Multisite Valet Driver from @QWp6t work perfectly! :beers:

A bit tricky getting nginx rules for multisite with subdirs on staging + production working correctly but eventually got there with the help of Kinsta support (can’t recommend these guys enough!).

Other than that it’s been a pleasure to work with MultilingualPress compared to WPML which we simply refuse to work with now.

Good luck!!
