Locate_template for blade?

How can I load a specific blade template in a sage9 theme, using locate_template in PHP?
I want to do this in a site plugin, so the usual blade directives cannot be used.

locate_template indeed works – the issue was the main query that was adjusted for the frontpage, it had to be replaced in pre_get_posts with a wholly new WP_Query.
