Just as an FYI, I’ll be speaking at WC Raleigh about Roots. Check it out: http://2014.raleigh.wordcamp.org/session/roots-the-starter-theme-that-will-make-you-a-better-developer/
Any newbs have any advice as to what I should cover? I’d love to hear suggestions.
The description for the talk:
Roots: The starter theme that will make you a better developer
Roots isn’t for people who’ve never developed a theme before, but for people who are looking for a good way to start their custom themes, this is the way to go. This talk will expect people to have some background with developing custom themes. Jumping into development with Roots will be a lot easier after this talk!
In this session we will be reviewing:
Installing Roots and it’s dependencies
Brief intro to Bower/Grunt.js or Gulp.js
The Roots file structure + special lib files
The Root’s wrapper
Developing on Roots and customizing Roots
Oh, also if you’re a Roots user, you should totally find me sometime during the weekend and say hi, I’d love to talk shop.
