Trellis with Bluehost

Will trellis work with Bluehost if ssh is available? If so, is there anything I need to do to my Bluehost server before attempting to deploy? Lastly, is there a way to use a subdirectory on Bluehost for the trellis deploy?

See here:

  • You need a server running a bare/stock version of Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial. If you’re using a host such as DigitalOcean, then just select their Ubuntu 16.04 option.

You can’t run Trellis on a shared host.

@tcboles you can’t provision Trellis to a shared host, but you can deploy. As long as you have ssh access, there are ways

@nathanielks I was thinking about using Capistrano for deployment and trellis for local development since I’m on a shared host. Is this similar to what you are referring to?

@tcboles sort of? I was referring to using Trellis for deployments as well. See this reply for how to get Trellis working on another shared host, Kinsta: Do you mantain your servers?.

That said, is there a reason you’re going with BlueHost over another?
